amp I bought 3 days ago not powering on - electrical engineer advice wanted

George Meyer downtown la is service for musical fidelity. I was just there 20 pluss techs oodles of electronic eq I was lusting after. Might give them a call ask a tech.i love my musical fidelity  500kw 550kw and cd spinners.i love the varister sound.its a tube developed for military to last decades.

it turns on now 4 out of 5 times. 

maybe it was something behind the button. 

But your question prompted me to text my repair guy and have it checked out. The remote only works 50% of the time, maybe that can be fixed as well. 

So on mine for the volumn it did not work the volumn so like tha cat and curious i took the top off.there is a motor and gear .I cleaned it with compressed air then deposit electronic cleaner put very light oil droplet through a syringe needle and it works. Save myself some money and exercise. Happy listening.of course make sure you unplug it and wait for caps to discharge.
