So spoke to a Rogue dealer. He mentioned that the RP-1 is about to get an update to V2. Cant really get too much info. Looks like slight improvements? I think I can get a new RP1 for ~15% off. That might be a pretty good deal?

MHTD Orchid tube dac(used for streaming Roon).
Oppo BDP105. (Occasionally for CD transport)
SVS PB12-NSD Sub
Victrola Carbon with Ortofon blue
So I’m looking to replace the Marantz with a proper Preamp. Need to drive the sub as well as a Phono amp(in case I move on from the Victrola)

If you are looking for quality tube sound with clarity and nice soundstage I agree with @jjss49, get the best Conrad Johnson preamp w/phono stage you can afford with your budget, Premier Classic 2, PV11 down to a PV2. And if you are lucky a premier 3. |
@gelle I used a marantz SR7007 as a preamp with my Krell ksa 300s amplifier for about 3 weeks, I couldn't stand the sound. I bought a space tech lab tube preamp for $700 and the sound was so much better, it was way too bright sounding with the marantz. The tube preamp kept the details, but lost the brightness, and has a more 3 dimensional sound. |
