Boutique DACs
Was trying to put a list together of all the boutique style DACs on the market… in line with these examples (preferably R2R or non D/S)

The Schitt Singular (Byggy) DAC is D/S BUT it is written from scratch by Schiit and not an off the shelf chip. That is impressive and shows their digital chops. My imersiv D-1 is as boutique as they come. It is the most resolving DAC you will find anywhere. This I say using my ears and also the measured numbers are significantly better than the second most resolving DAC. It uses a new process called multi-path.

Boulder doesn't currently have a standalone DAC in their product line, at least not listed among products on their website. I wonder if they are working on a replacement but the 2100 series DAC is no longer listed on their website. I have a Boulder 1108 phono-stage, and have a Weiss DAC501-MK2 for my DAC. I'm not sure what defines "boutique" for a DAC, but that's what i have. |
