Streaming Is To Audio What Red Plastic Cups Are To Wine

Unpacking and going through my vinyl collection, it occurs to me that vinyl is it, whereas streaming is Audio’s red plastic cup.

The best wines taste low-shelf in the red plastic cup. Yes, the red plastic cup is cheap and convenient, just like streaming. Wine should feel the same regardless of the vessel - it’s the same wine - but it does not. So should music - but it does not. Streamed music may sound (nearly) as good as vinyl, but it feels... disposable. Vinyl does not. Vinyl is the thing. Vinyl is it! Just my opinion, of course.

But falsely bashing a media you dont like or understand, doesn’t make it inferior.

Who is bashing anything?

To quote the OP, "Outstanding sound quality can be had from all media. At the end of the day, it’s all about the music." I'd add to that the mastering.

I took the Pepsi Challenge 45 years ago...I definitely preferred the cold fizzy one to the warmish flattish one...

I think wine tastes better out of paper cups than plastic ones. But if it's Mad Dog, right outa the bottle will work....

Folks who read the first half of the original post, skip the next 150 and post whatever their pet peeves are are a problem.

Therein lies the fundamental flaw in the way people use social media and online forums - too much knee jerking.

It is ironic that some have plenty of time to write long off topic rants but can’t even be bothered to properly read what they’re commenting on. It doesn’t matter what the topic is, they just want to get up on their soap box.

So many potentially interesting threads are spoilt by this. It’s such a waste.

On reflection, I am going to take a rest from all of this and focus on listening to vinyl records and streaming.
