The test will be conducted in mono. I will have an A/B/C/D/E test. 

Since it will be done in mono one CS 7.2 XO will be used for B/C/D/E test and one XO will be stock A test. 

Every aspect of this notch filter test will be identical including the output levels. The only variable is taking the same wire and moving it to B/C/D/E notch filter. So very controlled and consistent test. 

I looked at your system page and see you brought the right amp to the party for your CS 7.2. It takes a certain amp to push that 12" driver and do it with control. 

I bet they are engaging. 

I am in N. Carolina and really appreciate your offer to aid in this testing. If you are ever this way in your travels my door is open to you and even more so as a CS 7.2 owner. 

What made you settle on the CS 7.2 over other models?

It was just availability of the speakers. I found the CS7.2 at a Burlingame, California dealer and had them crated and shipped to me here in Colorado some years ago. I had previously purchased an amplifier from that same dealer, so I was comfortable with the long distance transaction. I had also been considering the CS3.7, but never found an acceptable price when I was actively looking.

My wife and I have friends in Old Fort, NC and we occasionally drive our Sprinter camper van back east. Also have a brother in Marysville, TN (near Knoxville) that we visit as well. So I will definitely consider a listening visit on some future trip back east. Thanks for the future invitation.

I remain interested in an outboard XO upgrade. Although retired, upgrade cost is not really an issue, since I plan on keeping these speakers for the duration. My heirs will have to figure out how to move these heavy speakers and amplifier. (I have already coached my wife to contact TMR, which is local to us.)

I welcome the visit sir. 

I view the CS 7.2 as you do. I won’t get rid of them and if I can make them even better I’ll spend the scratch as I seek performance over all else. 

I’ll get some images as I dive into this. 
Because of snow my travel plans last weekend were canceled so it will be this weekend that I travel. Upon my return I hope to get into the internals of the CS 7.2. 

It will be interesting to compare the notch filter Tom created to what is in there. The size alone is impressive plus the redesign so I am thrilled to be doing this.  This upgrade goes across so many other models, to a lesser degree, so this will be a step forward for sure. 

I have thiel 2.4's purchased 2004. Driven by bryston 4B from 1990. Just recapped the amp. No plans to update, I would like to create a second system with magnepans 2.7 though.

Welcome!  Good to see you here today.  Always great to have another fan/owner of CS 2.4 loudspeakers.  What other gear and cables are in your Bryston/Thiel system? I look forward in reading more about your Musical tastes.
