Someone mentioned sailboats above. I used to have a 26' sloop, and with it came a coffee mug that said "Sailing is like standing under a cold shower and tearing up £20 notes."

While I don't sail any more, maybe there are similarities with vinyl.

My favorite song of reverend Davis  are all on this album i listened for 55 years now times to times...

A pill for the spirit flows...We hear clearly here in spite of his aging his voice magic and playings...The sound is positive for our health unlike many others....

It’s long overdue for me to revisit Rev Davies’ work, both the ragtime/blues and the religious side which I don’t know so well. Like so so many of my generation I preferred the Devil’s music back in the day. I am more open minded now - my soul may be damned, but I can still enjoy righteous music.

Having said that, one of his religious songs, There’s a Bright Side Somewhere became something of an anthem for me because it symbolised my wife’s struggle with cancer.

That’s the great thing about having a good hifi, it enables you to enjoy a wide range of unfamiliar music. Genre no longer matters so much.

Where do you get your facts? You obviously don't actively seek out current reissues as there are new titles hitting the presses every day. In addition, many are meticulously remastered providing vinyl versions that sound better than any previous vinyl release that came before.

I must mention Rev Davies’ Ragtime Guitar record that I played to death in the old days. A perfect answer to the question "why vinyl." Going off topic, you have prompted me to delve into his wonderful Angels and Demons box set available on CD and streaming.

My wife became a poster girl for breast cancer survival and has had fifteen amazing years since to see the kids grow up. Her prognosis is not so good now, so we make the most of everyday while she’s still relatively well.

It was her who encouraged me to get back into vinyl after she became ill again. Life’s just too short not to do things you enjoy. Why not vinyl, indeed.
