cantilever is not straight

The cantilever on my Lyra Kleos is not exactly straight; it is angled slightly to one side, towards the record spindle.  It was retipped once, along with replacing the cantilever, by Soundsmith.  I align to the cantilever, not the body.  I have never been able to successfully use anti-skate with this setup ( Thorens TD-850, Origin Live Conquest arm) for long, because some records will hang up and start endlessly repeating, a problem that doesn't happen if the anti-skate is not engaged.

Should I be concerned?  Will this affect the sound?

If repairable, you need to have a pro do it right, Perhaps write Steve Leung at VAS, get his advice, you could attach a photo or two

and, your arm is superior, yet suspect, do you have an alternate cartridge to mount? To see if you can get everything correct, anti-skating working.

you can use the blank side of this LP, see naturally occurring inward skate, and then the effect of the arm’s anti-skate mechanism.

Wallyskater is an excellent tool and as the good Dr says above check TT level first and periodically.

as to Lyra @jcarr checks in here now and then

I always have to visualize this issue.  Seems to me the skating force pulls the stylus toward the spindle (actually the vector is toward the space between the pivot and the spindle, but the stiffness of the arm wand creates a force directed toward the spindle, for practical purposes.). The anti-skate is usually applied near the pivot point, whereas the skate force is at the stylus tip. This kind of puts the cantilever in a vice; its being pulled outward at its base or fulcrum and inward at the stylus tip. So this can deviate the cantilever toward the spindle for sure, but it could be due to excess of either skate or anti-skate or friction in the pivot that is messing up the balance of forces. Or so I think.

I have had similar experience with higher end AT MM styli. Since it happened to two of these, I determined it was user (mine) error and focused on anti-skate settings. So far so good.
