In addition to the above, both excellent suggestions, if you have a test record, any will do try playing the tracking bands. How does the cartridge track? If it tracks OK, it is OK.
cantilever is not straight
The cantilever on my Lyra Kleos is not exactly straight; it is angled slightly to one side, towards the record spindle. It was retipped once, along with replacing the cantilever, by Soundsmith. I align to the cantilever, not the body. I have never been able to successfully use anti-skate with this setup ( Thorens TD-850, Origin Live Conquest arm) for long, because some records will hang up and start endlessly repeating, a problem that doesn't happen if the anti-skate is not engaged.
Should I be concerned? Will this affect the sound?

@lloydc based on the information you provided you have excessive anti-skate setting. You need to re-check your entire setup, anti-skate included. |
If repairable, you need to have a pro do it right, Perhaps write Steve Leung at VAS, get his advice, you could attach a photo or two and, your arm is superior, yet suspect, do you have an alternate cartridge to mount? To see if you can get everything correct, anti-skating working. you can use the blank side of this LP, see naturally occurring inward skate, and then the effect of the arm’s anti-skate mechanism. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DRP34XD8/ref=sspa_dk_detail_2?sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9kZXRhaWw
