I prefer Ethernet. The only downside is having to hide the cables. I have a home configuration that makes this very easy but of course that is an individual issue
Is there any advantage to putting a Wifi mesh point next to my equipment and using ethernet into it over using the streamer's built-in WiFi? I'm getting good signal into everything using the built-in WiFi.
That’s how I am set up except I hardwire from mesh node near streamer. Sounds and functions great. I have tested this against the same using WiFi connection. No SQ difference. I rarely had dropouts with WiFi connection. Never have .them in this set up.
I compared a 30’ Blue Jeans cable to a TPLink Wi-Fi extender with a shorter Ethernet cable running to my Innuos Zenith Mk3. The Wi-Fi extender with the shorter run gave me a notable improvement in terms of clarity and blacker background. I have since added a Stack Smoothlan, and now upgraded to their Regenerator, both offering further improvement. Regardless of which transport method you choose, I would recommend some kind of filter device near your streamer.
