ASC vs GIK?

Does anyone have experience with both brands?

I have GIK now, but feel they aren't doing the trick

Not sure how room acoustic treatment can “stop doing the trick” since it’s not like they are active devices that can wear out or change, unless I am missing something. But to answer your question, I have had experience with both and my feeling is that there is more “science” behind what ASC offers. GIK is great, don’t get me wrong, but when it comes to bass traps nobody does it better than ASC. And if you’re better at being patient at DIY projects than I am you can certainly design and build your own products if you know what you are doing.

What I mean by doing the trick, is I keep moving them, taking the diffuser panels off and on, (you can take them off the Impression panels) things like that. IOW, it's still not right.

I have experience with GIK and Artnovion Acoustics. There are no absolutes with audio and every system/room is different. In my room/system the Artnovion improves bass articulation, allows me to hear further in the soundstage, with better spacing between instruments. Aesthetically Artnovion panels look significantly better and their quality makes GIK panels look like DIY panels. Of course it's just my opinion.

I’ve had diffusion and scatter products from both companies for several years in a large dedicated 2 channel listening area. The build quality from each company is equivalent — striving for mediocrity. Their functionality is equivalent — they’ll enhance your listening experience. In hindsight, I’d have them built by a skilled woodworker. The need to engineer these simple designs is laughable. They’d be a fun high school woodworking project.
