Thanks. Roon/Qobuz was used as the playback software with the MU1, as it was with the NuPrime Evolution stream. I prefer Qobuz over Tidal, but ultimately the very best playback solution in my existing setup (as described above) is done via JRiver MC34/35 and local, lossless files. 

@phusis  Thank you. I have found Roon offers less resolution than upnp/dlna applications, all of which sound the same on my system. I have wondered if Grimm products escaped this issue.

Relating to the OP and FWIW I use a sonic transporter i9 in to a Bricasti M3 renderer.  I haven’t done comparisons but have a hard time imagining the ~$1000 renderer option isn’t a great value for the under $5k crowd.

I just spent the weekend comparing Roon and Audirvana (i.e. UPnP) with my Weiss DAC501-MK2. I couldn’t hear a difference in sound quality, but the user experience is so much better with Roon that I plan to keep that and let my Audirvana trial expire.

@ohlala thats why we didn’t go the roon route Infigo IS1 is roon capable but anything that takes away from the actual sound is a no no that’s why we went Audirvāna. We have found it to have superior sound streaming quality. 

@ohlala @phusis @dwette we found using Audirvāna with quboz to be a game changer. We have got it to gauge the best sound quality I’ve heard streaming so far.
