Why redbook over SACD?

Why are there designers of expensive cd transports who do not include the possibility of playing SACDs? Only redbook.

I know this is a choice. They do not believe in this technology.

Why is that?

Forgot to address this:

how do I get the ripped file to the 5.1 receiver (the external DACs I have a 2 channel only)?

Can you receiver decode DSD? If not, then you might have to use a DAC like Okto which can do multi-channel DSD.

"It was a big shock to audio companies when the formats were greeted with mass apathy.  People had come to prioritize convenience over sound quality."

Yes, and their profits were going out the window as everyone was downloading MP3s to their Apple Ipods Napster for practically nothing. Funny how low bit reproduction took over as most people see Spotify as the go to source for their music consumption.

clueless statement...

Sacd is the peak of what's achievable in the realm of audio nirvana, only beaten by sony's new 360 reality format and bluray audio (atmos/dts/auro), but, can't explain the latter to a stereo fossil dude.

Keep measuring the sinad or whatever and rock on...

cos SACD adds nothing. if Redbook is dereived from a master that is excellent, SACD is just a needless pain
