Which turntable is better?

I am considering my first turntable and having difficulty deciding between Technics 1500C, Audio Technica LP8X, Music Hall Stealth, Mofi Ultradeck or Rega Planer 6. My budget is 2K to 2.5K. I understand all the diferences in these tables as far as belt drive versus direct drive and semi automatic functions etc. but wanted to know from others experiences with these? I will probably upgrade cartridge from what is supplied. I don't have to have built in phono stage as my integrated, Unison Research Unico Due has one onboard.

Hi Robert -

I own two TTs - the Technics 1210 GR and 1500 C.  I bought them new and have owned them for the last 3 or 4 years.  Either one will be a good purchase for you.

Very solid TTs, no issues whatsoever, the ability to ’roll’ cartridges is such a plus in owning these tables.  To me, they sound just fine.  Very solid build, so I can’t imagine replacing them unless I was really upping my game.  I do listen to CDs more than albums, so I am able to resist that urge; thank God.

The 1500 C is used with my amp's phono input (Heaven 11 Billie Mk 2).  I use a DecWare phono preamp with the 1210GR.

Rega has the following value points:

P3 - P8 - P10

the versions below P3 and the P6 and not worth the $ as much as the P3 or the P8. Either get the P3 with an upgraded (Nd) cart or save for the P8

I had a Music Hall TT, it spent more time in the repair shop than in my system.
