Upgrade to B&W 804 D4 Speakers

@soix Thank you for responding."what sound characteristics are most important to you?" I find this question somewhat difficult to answer. Of course, I would like a deeper and wider soundstage with each instrument having its own space. But isn't that a product of you get what you pay for? Generally speaking more money = better sound. I guess the sound characteristics I like are clarity, airyness, warmth. If anything, my present system can sound a little strident with a messy soundstage (like a wall of sound). I hope I'm making sense to you? Thanks

All of the speakers from Joseph Audio, ProAc, Vandersteen, and Usher I mentioned above excel at disappearing and producing an expansive 3D soundstage and would be a considerable improvement across the board while sounding less “clinical” (for lack of a better word) than your Focals.  If you have a large room and/or listen really loud I’d check if the Rogue has sufficient power, but if you’re high passing to the amp from the subs it’s probably not an issue.  Hope this helps.

You're not going to find warmth in the D3/D4 and even maybe D1/D2. B&W's changed from warm to neutral to bright. Those conditions can better be found in the 800N, 700S. The differences between the N-D4 is mostly the high frequency and bass extension. The old models are still excellent choices aside from wear and tear. If you want something newer, try a different brand.

It took me until last weekend to finally hear the kef Blade meta and they sounded amazing, that said I still have no idea what they'll sound like once home. I see 2 options for hifi nuts like those of us, buy used and willing to go thru the business of dealing with shipping, relisting, and weeding thru the lowballers or start working with a B&M shop being fully prepared to pay more, but get the ability to bring a demo pair home and work with the dealer.

Forgot to mention. They absolutely need a pair of subs. I'm using JL Audio subs with the 803 D3. They don't make deep, powerful bass by themselves.
