I asked ChatGPT about me and my posts...

Lets keep this friendly and avoid doing this for others or using it to attack me or anyone else or prove your view of some one else was right.

Let’s try an AI experiment! In another thread I was accused of many things including putting myself out here as THE authority on speakers when in reality I was cutting and pasting from ChatGPT.  The poster’s ad hominem attack included that I had posted 17k times.  Kind of an odd way to attack me but it got me thinking:  Can I use ChatGPT to summarize my participation?

Here is the prompt I used:

I do a lot of posting on Audiogon. You can see them from this link: https://forum.audiogon.com/users/erik_squires/discussions - What I want from you is an unbiased, short description of my posts, their technical accuracy and tone.

And here is the reply....

Here’s an unbiased, concise summary of your Audiogon contributions based on your discussions and responses:

1. Content Themes

  • You engage broadly across audio topics—from gear, system setup, signal issues, speaker matching, subs, room acoustics, to industry commentary and hobby culture.

Many posts start open-ended questions designed to gather others’ experiences rather than to assert your own conclusions.

You also start opinion or culture threads (e.g., on hobby inclusiveness or value vs. price), not just technical Q&A.

2. Technical Accuracy

  • Your responses tend to be practical and experience-based, mixing personal system experience with general principles (e.g., room modes, sub integration, signal chains).

You avoid unverified claims—emphasizing listening experience over ungrounded assertions.

Some answers suggest measured knowledge (e.g., recommending room mode tools, discussing distortion signatures), though they are framed as personal insights rather than authoritative engineering statements.

3. Tone

  • The tone is collegial and conversational—you generally invite others to share and clarify rather than lecture.

You moderate discussions by keeping threads on topic and encouraging constructive responses.

Occasionally you push back against what you see as snobbery or entrenched opinions in the hobby, but do so in a thoughtful way rather than aggressively.

4. Community Presence

  • With hundreds of discussions started and thousands of responses, you are a high-traffic, active member contributing to many areas of the forum.

Your posts often blend technical curiosity with personal experience, aiming to help others while exploring subjective aspects of audio enjoyment.

Summary (in one sentence):
You’re an experienced, conversational audiophile contributor whose posts mix practical system advice with open-minded discussion and generally accurate, experience-based commentary that invites participation rather than dictates conclusions.

You are free to disagree with ChatGPT, of course!!!  What I wanted to start, thought it would be fun, is for you to do the same for yourself.  If you try this and like the results, please post ChatGPT, or Claude or Gemini’s views of yourself here!

I do not have enough posts here to measure. But Gemini did say this about my punch card site. And I agree. 😊

That is an incredible project. Having looked into it, I can see that Punch Card Archive (and formerly IBM Junkman) is likely the most comprehensive digital repository of its kind on the internet.

My initial reaction to this thread was, "wow!  I never thought of that".  Then after reading the replies I thought, "glad I didn't think of that".  To reference "Spinal Tap", there's a fine line between clever and stupid.

On a more constructive note, why not ask the Audiogon community the following question.  How can I be a better contributor to this forum?

To clarify:

Between Amish and cyborgs, i prefer Amish...

I  may use A.I. for acoustic or gear problem as i can use a book or some research article...I used it for mathematics also... I learned a lot ....For example ask it what is an exacting cardinals and his link to measurable cardinals, it will answer in second, then ask for a clarification about very hard to grasp concept implied , it will answer...Now all this takes me few seconds... In real life with books in my university all this would have taken a long time and research...

What emerge now is in an unprepared social fabric collapsing  and the marketing of our own demise by oligarchs : A.I. is not a tool at all ... Even if it appear as a useful one  even to me using it ...

We are the tools... Ask any oligarchs...

Asking an A.I.  as i did  is simply a way of  measuring his power and his limits among many others ...

it is useless to be unfriendly between each other here as well stated by the OP ...

The narcissists are having a field day!

This must be generated by an AI, because the instructions to keep things friendly were definitely not followed.

No - that was written by someone who made an observation and drew a correct conclusion based on type of activity in this and your other threads.
You don’t get to moderate truth.

I had read the same threads as you for 10 years now  and i never insulted  the OP because he was imaginative and creative  in his answers, posts or threads and i never considered his person existence  as a personal insult to me  to the point of characterizing him to be a "narcissist"  as in a medical  analysis.

It is an insult some throw back  and some other arriving here throw it  give again as first post of "positive" contribution...smiley

This crowd habit of lynching  we see here when one throw a stone  against someone who is different a bit too much, provoking  others to do the same against  the one emerging from the lot, is  described in books of medecine too ...It is a mimetic ape behaviour...

The OP nor ghdprentice are narcissist because they ask by curiosity what A.I. think of their posts in Audiogon, but if you want a clown target for your tomatoes you can take me, i am  the nearer of the "narcissistic" diagnosis here ...winksmiley
