On or Off - On or Off - Audio Electronics

Leave out the topic of Tube Gear - Do you believe that your equipment should be left on all of the time or turned off and on when you use it.  Several pieces of my system do not give you front panel access to power to turn them off.  Interested in your thoughts on SS Amps and Pre-Amps, etc...

I have a Sumo Andromeda amp from the mid-80's. It has been on 24/7 for seven years without a hiccup. Same for the RGR 4 preamp. If a SS component is going to fail it will likely do it on turn on.

I am not sure when or why I started turning off gear.  When much younger I always left my system ready to go.  Maybe reflecting a perceived immortality at a younger age and then becoming a little more cautious.

My phono stages and DAC only turn off on the back panel.

I leave my Schiit Yiggy and my Innuos Pulse Mini w/ LPS are always on unless I leave town. My Richard Gray power filter stays on the same. My SS amp goes on early morning and stays powered until bedtime. I prefer Harleys over horses so nothing to beat. 😆 Cheers , Mike B.

I’ve owned a Classe’ solid state preamp that had no off switch. It did have a mute switch.
