Listen, Erik is an engineer, and he does "work" with speaker building. It is obvious why he would post the measurements here. Some folks rely heavily on measurements. Engineers certainly do. You can easily read into people how they write..."mine is bigger than yours". 333, I would never want to be acquainted with you, which is a shame, as I, too, would like to hear some of your horn speakers. You display nastiness and misery vibes. This audio industry of ours should be a fun one, and shared, happily and politely. Saying that a $28,000 pr of speakers should sell for $2800., shows me, ignorance and immaturity, on your part.. If my post gets deleted by Admin, so be it. My best to everyone else, MrD.
Stereophile - Sabrina 5
Hate to rag on Sterophile again, but one of two things are true. One, the Sabrina speakers they reviewed were wired incorrectly or Wilson is now shipping with inverted midranges.
All that work to reduce distortion to vanishing levels only to totally ahem, add custom flavor to the frequency response.
Honestly if I was reviewing this speaker I'd have stopped to reach out to them before publishing, just to be sure this speaker shipped as intended.

@mdalton show me where I attacked anyone here. Just because you don’t like what I have to say doesn’t constitute an attack on my part. You got no concrete arguments. You chose a side and now everything that isn’t to your liking is an attack. That’s pretty common and isn’t new. I’m not here to tell you what you’d like to hear. Take a walk around the block and cool it. What’s pathetic is your mentality. |
Just a few examples: 1) from your first post: “It’s neither right nor wrong and you sir are definitely not qualified to make that judgement call. You cam express your opinion but you know what they say…opinions are like noses…everyone has one.” 2) second post (sarcasm): “The lazy and arrogant people at Wilson Audio must have just hit a lucky streak with mine. Hey even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while. Keep it coming boys…” 3)third post: “funny how building a pair of speakers in the basement can inflate some DIYer’s ego. Holy 💩 batman! I’m now a speaker manufacturer! Let me read this review of these new Wilsons here and see where Daryl and the team messed up. Got ya - red herring right in the measurements section! Now let me do some gaslighting on the forums.” There’s more, but I think I’ve made my point, lol! |

Read a lot about the SH50’s, which are/were quite popular in some circles that implemented pro gear in home environments, and your SH60’s fall into the same category, just a bit wider coverage pattern. Emulating, and effectively being a point source per channel with great dynamics, controlled dispersion and good extension (certainly upwards) is a real engineering feat.
The horn-loaded Pioneer bass cabs no doubt sound great, but yeah, they’re made for being ultimately SPL beasts, so extension takes a hit. For most music though I take it they are more than fully sufficient, so I wouldn't worry that much about extension, unless with movies.
It’s the right brand alright, but my speakers are the so-called Blue Box series of the older, fully refurbished variant, SA4525, with ferrite magnet planar magnetic driver (SA8525) where newer ones are neodymium (SA8535) and class A/B built-in amp (class D in the current iteration). The newer version is almost 70 pounds lighter.
Yes I have, and I know a japanese guy, Nakaue, who has tons of EV and JBL cinema speakers which can be seen here. |
