Chair

I’ve been thoroughly bitten by the couch. My listening chair that is.
I’m forced to cut my listening sessions short due to lower back pain (chronic, result of an old injury). Looking to get something that would be comfortable enough to not aggravate the nerve in my tukhes and align properly with my speakers in a sweet spot.
Eames replica in leather? Ikea Poang? Anything else? What do you use?

@bigtwin - thanks for the tip,

@audphile1 - rats, today I demoed various Stressless chairs- they’re soooo comfortable.  Later, I demoed Lazyboy.  I haven’t decided if headrest causes significant reflections to be avoided or is a non-issue. Also if fabric is better at mitigating reflections than leather.  Both Stressless and Lazyboy’s headrest was above my ears.

Then I went to Hermon Miller to try out their Eames chair. One fit perfectly and my ears were just above the headrest, can lean back with some support. Sigh. The salesperson said that Hermon Miller will have a sale at the end of the month, so I gave her my contact number - that’s safe, right? 🙄

We’re NOT buying Italian leather

..actually, if it's the eames replica on amazon, the leather is cloth-backed polyurethane material, aka as pleather.  It can be very comfortable though.

I have an Ekornes in one room and  a older-style leather Lazy-boy recliner is another. The Ekornes has a heavy towel draped on the headrest while the recliner has an afghan draped over the back and over the headrest.  Both seem to work fine.

@kennyc  Am I reading the Hermon Miller site correctly, that they are asking $6000 US for their Eames Chair???   I bought my chair from Eternity Modern on sale for  $2200 CDN.  All the wood is sourced from Canada.  All the leather is sourced from Italy.

@bigtwin

Unless your chair came with Eames certificate of authenticity, it is very likely a replica of original Eames chair which retails for over $6K in USA.

There’s a wide range of quality among Eames replicas, especially when it comes to upholstery and metal construction. I did extensive research before choosing mine, and it’s upholstered in high-quality, genuine top-grain Italian leather imported from Italy.  Most Eames replicas doesn’t have an option to remove cushions, mine came with removable cushions, backed by a 3-year Manufacturer Warranty.

@bigtwin - I guess so.  Salesman…salesperson…saleswoman says that in-site offers more fabric/leather options than online - throwing out the bait.

I just moved. Triplets college paid. Upgrading furniture after decades living frugally with IKEA furniture- flipped flimsy drawers when sagging.  Might be able to convince spouse into getting my “retirement” daddy chair under furniture upgrade😬.  Another way to look at this is “+cost-resale value” aka I’m not out the full price.  If discount is half price…wishful thinking

I saw a few Eames copies on Amazon. Seems a bit of research is needed to find a “good” copy.
