Hegel Viking sound

I just purchased a Hegel Viking CD player. I am breaking it in and at about 100 hours. It is vocal forward and the trebel is not bright but to close for my comfort. Looking for ideas to tame it.

Many factors involved including your room which many try to "fix" with gear/cable changes. IMHO, cables can become expensive tone controls. CD players do have their own "flavor". Best sounding of the many I have owned was a Cary unit. Incredibly smooth and natural, beat my McIntosh unit IMHO...

Agree you should give it another 100 hours of playing time before making firm conclusions.  What CD player were you using before?  Are there improvements in other areas?  What interconnects are you using and what’s the rest of the equipment in your system?

My system is Dali Ms 4 speakers, Cary SLP 05 preamp, Pilnius SB-301 amp and Synergistic Research Foundation XL speaker wire and interconnects. Hegel Viking CD

I can't say about the Viking, but the Mohican I bought about 8-9 years ago seemed to take almost forever to break in.  Be patient and you will be rewarded.
