Best speakers for GaN1? Or should I change amps???

It’s been some time since I bought the Peachtree GaN1 + Bluesound Node combo.    Unfortunately, I’ve hardly used it, as I’ve been working away from home.   I have it paired with a little pair of Ruark Epilogue speakers + JL Audio Sub.    Sound isn’t great.

I’m looking for suggestions for the best speakers for the GaN1?

Or should I just move it on & start again?

Thanks

@singintheblues I researched it a lot, almost bought one. So I don't know. But the reviews were positive. It depends on what you are looking for. If there is trial period in the UK, you would be well server with Audilab or Creek, both solid. But again, baby steps. The lack of inputs is not good, can you connect a preamp to it?

@singintheblues talk to Purite Audio in UK if you can get demos of the Ascilab and AudiofirstDesigns range he has. the  Cadentia 3, S6B and the C8C and A6B should be ones to look but talk to them about speakers and thankfully they shouldn’t eat into all the budget so you can get frankly more robust power delivery amps. For me, I would move on from the GaN1. I agree that you should find the speaker you like first. Best wishes!

Thanks guys!   A lot to respond to.

The issues with the GaN1, by Peachtree’s own admission, speakers need to be easy to drive, so no 4ohm or <87db, from what I understand.

Also, only a single digital input.  The GaN1 is the DAC.

The little Ruarks are something I’ve had for years that come out every time I sell speakers.   I’ve had all sorts from 15” Tannoys to bookshelves.  A lot of swapping.

Unless I heard something that sent shivers, I wouldn’t go valves, and to be fair, I’ve owned several in the past from 300b to OTL and a few in between.

I’ve not been to a dealer or show for years.   I need to get round with an open mind & find the sound I like.
