Phase cancelation/comb filtering come to mind.
You could use a single speaker though.

Two bookshelfs as center Kef Reference 5 and Kef R3
Is this a huge no no? I have a pair of Kef Reference 5 main speakers and it's darn near impossible to find a matching center. When I have seen them, they're $5k and I just don't want to spend that. So what if I took a pair of KEF R3 bookshelves, turned them on their side and put them under the screen? Why would this be a bad idea? What's the best way to wire them?

Ok so no due to comb filtering. I supposed that could occur but wouldn't that only be an issue if the speakers were offset? Plenty of speakers use a similar design. All im doing is making a MTM configuration. Anyway, I guess i won't do that.. I just figured using one speaker woudln't be enough. I was amazed at how much difference a beefy center made in my other systems. I guess the R3 is no slouch so I should be fine. |
