I recall reading an interview years ago with Charlie Hansen where he recommended Cardas cables with Ayre amps, Cardas Clear Light in paricular IIRC. This was before the newer range of Cardas Cables such as the Clear Ref were released. So I doubt using Cardas cables would be problematic, and is probably a good match if you like their sound.
Coincidentally, I also have the KX-5/VX-5 Twenty - great amps! I am using Furutech interconnects, power cables and speaker cables which I am very happy with. But I'm sure there are many other combinations that would work well.
