Jay’s Audio Lab YouTube interview 😂

I have never been so turned off by someone so arrogant and Mr. right than I was when I watched Jay’s latest interview with one of his customers.
First the guy seems like an … and then starts bashing other high end companies he doesn’t like. Jay then agrees with him to make him happy and right.
I suppose Jay must keep that customer happy and agree with him to keep his business a live.

hiendmmoe

After watching a few of his video, I went ahead and contact him to ask for some advice. He told me he needed to charge me before he can give me some advice because his time is valuable. I said to myself WTF and said never mind total turn off.

I can only shake my head at the "Influencer-ization" of this hobby. There are already so many great reviewers out there, from pro writers to amateurs on forums, who are humble, knowledgeable, descriptive, and consistent in their opinions. This guy is none of those. It's more like a Kardashian experience. Why anyone would give a guy like this even a single click or second of their time is beyond me.

@ronres

thanks for the link. I was unaware of the new resource. I do have to agree with your general observations about the forums -  with respect to experience level represented and growing hostility.

And thanks for WBF. I am learning much over there.

I will add that I may be an outlier in that I don’t generally prefer videos as a format for audio reviews/discussions as I don’t seem to have the necessary attention span to make it through the unrelated chit chat or fluff, and the overly effusive descriptions of what veil, previously unrevealed, was removed

While I read TAS, I do so quickly and am grateful for concluding comments. I necessarily am distrustful of any conclusions as they’re seemingly always positive and too often lack relevant comparisons but at least they cover gear in which I’m interested.

On the other hand, I like forum discussions because it’s relatively easy to wade through comments that are tangential and/or unhelpful, hostile or from people with strong biases (many of which they’re unaware), and find those nuggets that are real, honest - (no financial incentive) from those with far more experience than I have. I can also come back to them easily - I needn’t try to find the place where i left off in the aforementioned video.  I can consume information at whatever tempo my appetite that day supports.

Best,
