Apologies to Norah Jones, I needed more bass!
I've read a lot of positive reviews about Norah Jone's, both in her individual talent and the quality of the recordings. I've been "meh!" for years.
The last six months I upgraded my main speakers with dual 10" woofers per side and enormous amplifier power and wow, suddenly I really enjoy Norah Jones!! I just didn't have enough bass to do her recordings justice.

I'm having a lot of fun reading the music suggestions. I also should point out that my speaker upheaval was in fact more involved than I let on. It's not just more bass but completely new crossovers and amps. I think part of this was that in a previous home the speakers sounded really great and I never fully compensatged for the new living space. So, quite possible that my new appreciation for NJ was more than _JUST_ bass, but I am a bass believer, always have been. Meaning, I don't think you need to listen to rock and roll to benefit from excellent, well integrated bass. |
@erik_squires - hi Erik, I remember in past posts, your saying that you felt subwoofers were often utilised in systems that did not really need them, due to the unoptimised bass frequencies which often plague system builds. Given your recent experience with Norah Jones, might you now reconsider complementing your listening with a carefully integrated subwoofer set-up? In friendship - kevin |
