Anyone else prefer listening to their system more than a concert?

I know I do. It seems like most people on this forum don't feel that way. That's OK. To each his own.

For me, I like being able to control the volume. I like choosing what song I want to hear. I like not being in a crowd. I like hearing the music without any distracting sounds from others. I like the privacy. I like the convenience. I think my system sounds wonderful. I'm a happy camper.

Just my opinion. Not trying to change anyone else's mind.

Enjoy the music! Whichever way pleases you.

The two are so different I stopped comparing them to avoid disappointment.  The concert is a visual and physical experience, and the sound is much different from my home system, obviously worse. Still fun to see the other people and the band live.  Can not be compared though to sitting at home with our systems.  It is important to distinguish between an amplified concert and a smaller live acoustic type event.  Again, those are very different.

I can't leave before short complaint on how loud the concerts are now.

I still like going to concerts but not nearly as often as I did back in the day.  About 4 a year now.  As I’ve gotten older I go to fewer concerts while my music systems have gotten better with time and more disposable income.  My best systems sound better but there’s nothing like seeing a great band live.

Good stuff.  I think most of us are on the same page.  No more concerts for me.  In the day I have seen all my favorites, other than Zep.  I have 2 main stereo set ups and both are way better sound than most any concert I have seen.  My last was the Black Crows at Memorial Hall in Dayton, OH.  Excellent acoustics in that small venue, other than that mostly crap.  I believe concerts are mostly younger folks.  I almost went to see the new Oasis tour and decided to watch on You Tube, with my set up it was great and I could have a cocktail or two and rock on

@12many - You are right about the difference between the two. Have you ever gone to any concerts in the 1970's? At least as loud as anything today, and the PA's were much worse and more distorted, causing ear-ringing that could last for days. But yes, even in the 21st century, I've been to some shows that I had to leave after a short while it was so loud and distorted, but that's often more down to the sound crew than the PA gear itself, as I've heard great sounding shows at the same venues.

For you old folk like me, paste this on Google or your web search engine of choice and have a listen. The sell out every gig, even Red Rocks. You might be able to "just click on it". They do every song Led Zepplin ever did. This is short taste of the tons of songs they play in the Concerts. We have seen them 5 times, and it’s like putting on a set of headphones. They wanted to sound like the original album, so they added a couple guitars to take care of all the over-dubs Zep did in the studio. Talk about bringing back memories...

And yes...TURN IT UP
