Problem with Ayre QX-5 & Roon

My QX-5 DAC is back from Ayre after an update that among other things raised the sample rate above 192., and now it somehow stops Roon from playing DSD files, not just no sound but no play. Roon to the KEF LS60 plays DSD files without a problem. Both set ups are on Ethernet.

The setup is Roon Nucleus, Ayre QX-5 Twenty DAC, AX-5 Twenty integrated, KEF Reference 1s.

Any ideas about what could be the problem?

Have you called Ayre? I am sure they can sort it out.

I have talked with Ayre.  They suggested I check out Roon resources before sending the unit in.

I think it's an Ayre problem because:

  • It played DSD before I sent the QX-5 to Ayre for an update.
  • The QX-5 displays DSD 256, but Roon doesn't play DSD.
  • Roon plays DSD when I use the KEF LS60.
