Mofi Sourcepoint 8 vs. KEF R3 Meta

I'm considering one of these two critically praised speakers for my 21' x 14' room. I'll pair them with a Rythmik F12 subwoofer to cover the lower frequencies. I don't have access to a local retailer to compare them side-by-side, so I'm posting here to see if anyone has listened to both and can offer their opinion, or observations.

If you have 8k, get the mofi v10 master ed., and you can have some inkling of a tad reference.

But, here we are talking about some kef matchbox, sitting on a toothpick stand.

Power cable = huge, amp = huge, dac box = enormous, preamp box = uuuge ...everything should be huge except for the speaker in just another bassackward hifi episode.

The best sound you'll ever hear in life will always come out of a larger speaker.

@output555 hell yes on using realistic iterative models to integrate your room/speaker system. Did that for myself and I have no desire to waste money again

My room was also designed by an acoustics engineer. Jeff at HDacoustics did mine. He was recommended to me by Duke LeJeune who I met at Axpona in 2022. The results are spectacular.

 Do not get any ATC. this obsession with negative midrange having speakers baffle me endlessly

Let me attempt to explain. Many two-way speakers manage to achieve better midrange performance than many three-ways. ATCs happen to manage this in some cases. The reality is that even a $10K/pair three-way floorstander will often have BOM compromises that inhibit the midrange performance. It largely comes down to the performance of individual drivers. Most speakers at most price ranges are equipped with rather mediocre/medium performance drivers to save on cost or make the speaker an easier load.

I’ve owned dozens of speakers and auditioned countless more at nearly all price points. Yes, once you get into real high-end speakers, the three-way model will almost always perform better than the two-way counterpart, but that’s if talking >$30K/pair speakers from the likes of YG, Rockport and Wilson etc. I have yet to find this to be the case with any brand of sub $4K speakers from the typical suspects. All of their three-ways pale in midrange performance compared to a $15K two-way from the aforementioned.

I have a pair of two-way Satori Helios Textreme speakers that I would confidently pit against any commercially available three-way under $10K/pair. The midrange of the Helios is superior, even at high playback levels.

Price = $2199

15 inch bass plays down to 25  hz and below.

Small mid driver array kicks in around 200 hz with the crossover around 300...Mid array hands off to a single tweeter up top.

(Could talk other tektons, but, this entry price Tekton should be enough for midrange contests).
