Mini amp with passlabs / tube like sound

Hello,

i am looking for a small low wattage amp, preferably solid state (as I’ve been burning out too many tube amps) for my dining room setup with home made open baffle speakers.

The speakers work well with tubes and a small set amp, have been using the small amp from musical paradise, but I’m open to suggestions.

what would make a good small simple amp with a set tube like sound?

thanks,

Richard

Just curious, how do you burn up the tube amps ? What fails when this happens. To answer your question, I have a modded Akitika that is 50 wpc and sounds pretty good. More power than you want but you don’t have to go full volume either. I’ve seen them used in the $250 range. Not sure what your budget is but I also like my Had Inspire. Or are you looking for an integrated one ? Cheers, Mike B.

First Watt SIT amplifiers. If you can find a SIT-3, they are sweet and sound like a tube amp but better. I believe the SIT-4 and SIT-5 are available new.

Something’s up if you’re burning out too many tubes - they typically last between 3,000-10,000 hours.  If you sort that out, checkout Decware Zen Triode.
