Who here continues to regularly use a CD player?

@mylogic I'll never tell how she got into the listening room-  as for my listening habits, I rarely listen to CDs anymore- for me its LPs and streaming, some FM, and last, CDs. I have sold a ton of CDs in the last year. Most are pretty inexpensive, but I've been surprised that some of the CDs I had were somewhat rare and pricey.

I have a friend why has a really nice system, almost never uses his streamer, and CD/SACD is the only medium he listens to.

I think all the formats are an equally valid pathway to the music that can bring great listening pleasure. You like Vinyl? Great- go for it. Same with CD and same with streaming.

CDs are all I listen to on my primary system. However, I do listen to FM radio in the car, garage, and office.

I still use the CD/SACD player pretty regularly, there are SACDs (Living Stereos) where I have not found hi-res streaming equivalents and I have some boutique CDs (e.g. John Marks) that are not available on streaming services.

Streaming subscriptions are pretty inexpensive.  Presto is $10.99, Qobuz $12.99.

With a superbly engineered DAC like your K-01XD (I upgraded from a K-01XS to the K-01XDSE) the input circuits, buffering and clock are so good that you need not spend a fortune on a streamer.  I use an Eversolo T8 but anything that supports asynchronous USB will probably (gasp - waiting for the yells of rubbish!) sound the same.

The engineers at Teac/Esoteric have done everything they can to isolate the analog conversion step from nasties in the  input stream.  Similarly you are insulated from the vagaries of the internet stream, other than total drop outs.

@kmcong You can rip easily using the T8.  Get a USB CD drive from Staples (e.g.) and it will rip (or play) CDs.  Be sure to choose the Number Tracks option.  The software will then retrieve CD data (probably from CDDB) and index everything into the library.

We invite couples over and have rock out nights. 2-hour concerts. Favorite is the Blu-ray of Eagles @ Melhorn. Its recording is perfect. At least for a live performance. 110-112 db. Concerts...Every single guest has said "I’ve never heard anything like THAT in my life"! Until someone figures out a way to duplicate these Blu-rays, I’ll be using the Oppo.   

I still use my legacy Nakamichi CD player as I have a good CD collection as well as vinyl. And some recordings made in the late 1980s and 1990s were only recorded on CD, so this doesn't interfere with my listening choices. However, I must say that I have been thinking of upgrading to the TEAC VRDS 701t cd transport.
