@abnerjack When anything is coming from another country, it generally needs a "customs broker" to file the paperwork, collect and remit the taxes and fees etc. I would expect the additional money FedEx is collecting from you is to cover their services in this regard. They do nothing for free. Cheers.

@nasaman If you are importing from Japan, the "baseline" tariff is 15%. There is a secondary tariff on steel & aluminum that can add an additional 25% on the value of those products used in the item you are purchasing. With any luck you get off with 15%, but be prepared to pay more. Can the same item be purchased from a US retailer? Someone who could help you with warranty and service. Just a thought. Cheers. |
