Personality

I now find myself streaming most of the time. Although the SQ is really good, I realize there’s something missing.  When I pull out a record or CD, each one seems to have a uniqueness or personality of its own which reflects when I first bought it or played it.  Also each one seems to have a sound signature which I associate with it, making it more personal.  I don’t get that with streaming

Does anyone else feel this way?

I agree that there is something about CD sound quality that is ever so slightly better than streamer’s. It’s such a subtle difference in clarity.  I do prefer listening to CD’s for critical listening.

Very cool book case!

We used to keep thousands of books with book cases in every bedroom and study (like floor to ceailimg). With the advent of the iPad we quickly switched and started getting ride of books so we could have a house that liked more like a residence. I kept my astronomy, geology, chaos theory, many history, and early (late 1990s consciousness, developmental psychology itc) and of course my literature books.

I would think you have the personality to collect old / first addition (where options exist) versus me who focus on new. I have always been on the forefront of exploring technology. It would be great fun to get together. It would be possible, but my partner is disabled and can’t leave the house so I need to stay here. If you get near Portland OR… give me a holler. I’ve had a couple of audiogoners visit.

I am touched by your kindness and true passion...

Alas! i cannot travel and anyway had no budget for it...

It is one of the rare instance i regret it ...I wish i could...

Thanks from my heart for your incredibly touching offer ...

For collecting books, i learned soon because of cost to forget any collecting, these two above are exceptions...

I was focused not on books at all  as objects...

But on their content ...

My budget was completely on books at 28 i could had bought a house with my personal library books price(i computed it at the times because my father born poor was desperate about my poverty and dependence of my mother meals often )

Only my wedding slowed down me and my child care... But i used university access and facility back then...When i owned a computer i discovered how to access books ...

Nowadays i had more music or books i can listened to for many reincarnations..

Since i am retired i do not have young student minds anymore to motivate me though ...

it is why i haunted audiogon  here ...

Streaming. It is sad that streaming has no memory. One day is much like any other.

No future memories of buying an album, or taking that LP or CD to someone’s house, and hearing through with other like minded human beings. I can remember where and why l bought most of my LPs back to my teens, and the friends l shared them with. The years they represented, plus the vivid recall value of places and times sharing that music. You can’t put a price on that nostalgia, and what extra enjoyment it brings or adds to the bond between man and music.

l don’t care if people want to stream or not. It’s just a big shame those sort of memories will never happen if you stream, and forget.
