| Manufacturers with great customer service Linear Tube Audio (LTA) provides excellent customer service. | |
| Advice on speaker cables. I would suggest leaving looking into Morrow Audio SP-5 or SP-6. The SP-6 I purchased made an immediate and noticeable improvement in SQ over simple braided copper wire. They are good folks to work with too. | |
| The Music Room is Slipping The people that do best with TMR are the buyers. They get quality used equipment with a trial period at a steep discount over new. I’ve had good success with TMR both buying and selling, but buying gives you the best feeling. You do pay a premiu... | |
| Tube Pre and SS Power? Or the reverse? I’ve owned many different combinations of preamp/amps and so much depends on the speaker you’re driving. For my KEF Reference 3’s, the best combo is a tube preamp and a SS amp with ample power. Currently running LTA MicroZOTL pre, LTA Aero DAC a... | |
| So, what did you get yourself for the holidays? Pair of Mullard 12AT7 input tubes for my LTA MicroZOTL V3 preamp. Rollin tubes for Christmas 🙂 | |
| Whats playing on your system today? Patricia Barber-Nightclub. Great recording and wonderful jazz ❤️ | |
| LTA MicroZOTL tube upgrade I did a quick search and the GEC A9000’s are about $500 USD ea and the only suppliers I came across are overseas. 😮 My MicroZOTL L3 came with Brimar Ecc81/12AT7 WA input tubes that I do like. I do have access to a pair of Mullard CV4024/12AT7 th... | |
| "Blown away by KEF/Hegel combo!!!!" My local ListenUp dealer was demonstrating KEF Reference 3 Metas with SimAudio Moon separates. It was amazing sound quality and sold me back to solid state amplifiers. New SimAudio products were out of my reach unfortunately. A few weeks later t... | |
| "Blown away by KEF/Hegel combo!!!!" @soix Just noting my experience with Hegel amps. Yes, the retail on the SimAudio is considerably more than the Hegel but it’s still a SS to SS amp comparison. Nothing against Hegels, the H20 just didn’t work for me.. | |
| "Blown away by KEF/Hegel combo!!!!" I ran my KEF Reference 3 Meta’s with a Hegel H20 amp for a short time. The Hegel is a good amp and generally well respected within the KEF universe, but it seemed to be somewhat flat to me. Ended up replacing it with a SimAudio Moon 860A V2 amp w... | |
| Anyone else prefer listening to their system more than a concert? I use to love live performances, but anymore they are too loud, too many annoying people and a lot of hassle. Don’t get any of that at home with my beautiful system. Guess I’m just getting old! 😮 | |
| Sum Total Cost Of All Cables In Your Rig? Maybe $5K. My most expensive cables are for the speakers, with modest interconnects. Not sold on the value of power cables at all. | |
| Who here continues to regularly use a CD player? 50%-50%. I like CD’s for more serious listening and the streamer for convenience when I feel lazy. SQ is very close between my CDP and Innuos ZEN Mk3 streamer. | |
| Personality I agree that there is something about CD sound quality that is ever so slightly better than streamer’s. It’s such a subtle difference in clarity. I do prefer listening to CD’s for critical listening. | |
| Recommendations for a tubed preamp Another vote for the LTA MicroZOTL V3 preamp. I’m currently running the V3 with a Sim Audio Moon 861V2 amp and am very happy |
