Personality

I now find myself streaming most of the time. Although the SQ is really good, I realize there’s something missing.  When I pull out a record or CD, each one seems to have a uniqueness or personality of its own which reflects when I first bought it or played it.  Also each one seems to have a sound signature which I associate with it, making it more personal.  I don’t get that with streaming

Does anyone else feel this way?

You have a point with me .I never finished the "idiot"...

I was too immature to get it ...

I must read it again before dying...

@mahgister - 'The Idiot' was great. I could also highly recommend the Brothers Karamazov (my favorite of his) and 'Crime and Punishment'.

It relates to how, philosophically and psychologically, we externalize ourselves into the world through objects. It’s more than tactility. It’s memory, permanence, nostalgia, and emotion. Perhaps some feel it more than others.

mahgister, although, strictly speaking not a by a ’Russian author', since you mentioned ’dying’ you might enjoy ’The Fixer’, a 1966 novel by Bernard Malamud, which depicts the working of the Russian Judicial system, at least for Jews. It made a lasting impression on me!

Interesting suggestion!

I know the writer by name but never read him...

Thanks very much...
