Personality

I now find myself streaming most of the time. Although the SQ is really good, I realize there’s something missing.  When I pull out a record or CD, each one seems to have a uniqueness or personality of its own which reflects when I first bought it or played it.  Also each one seems to have a sound signature which I associate with it, making it more personal.  I don’t get that with streaming

Does anyone else feel this way?

Political satire is my read.  Solzhenitsyn (my fav), Orwell, Huxley, Vonnegut, Irving, and Wolfe.  For some unexplained reason, in a stile so different than the above, I also enjoy Victoriana:  Dickens, Elliot, Trollope, Collins, and of course the Brontë”  sisters.

It is because more than any others they can describe human feelings complexities and nuances...If i could pick only one Dickens is so amazing...Even the great and deep Balzac lack his humor....

I like your choices...

You have a point with me .I never finished the "idiot"...

I was too immature to get it ...

I must read it again before dying...

@mahgister - 'The Idiot' was great. I could also highly recommend the Brothers Karamazov (my favorite of his) and 'Crime and Punishment'.

It relates to how, philosophically and psychologically, we externalize ourselves into the world through objects. It’s more than tactility. It’s memory, permanence, nostalgia, and emotion. Perhaps some feel it more than others.
