For some reason known only to him, Mijo has left the building.  Only he can tell you his reasons for preferring his own gizmo to the Wallyskater. It should be noted that he also told me (hearsay evidence only) that he owns a lot of Wally gear and is a fan. So he is not a hater of the stuff.

Testpilot, there is only one coefficient of friction for any two materials, in this case vinyl vs diamond.

 It is my understanding that your statement is true when measured under a controlled set of parameters.  Coefficient of friction for two materials will differ if you change a “condition” such as surface finish, load, contact geometry etc.

Yes to surface finish (rough vs smooth). No to “load” if by that you refer to the Normal Force, which is critical but separate from coefficient of friction (mu), and I think no to contact geometry as far as that affecting mu.
