how do they scam you if you just cancel the order or get a refund?

Everyone probably knows this but as a reminder except for Taiwan anything from China is 220V.

I got caught up in one of these scams a few months ago. Ordered some used Wharfedale speakers from China and they sent a USPS tracking number. A couple of weeks later I was notified that the item had been delivered - but of course it had not. I filed a claim with ebay and at first they were reluctant, and they even told me that the seller was claiming that I was scamming him!

So I got on the phone with USPS and they explained how sellers like this generate a tracking number, then that number is "highjacked" and used to send some unrelated (but probably illegal) item. In my case it was an "envelope" sent from a warehouse in Tennessee to an address in my zip code (but not mine).

I documented all this and sent it to ebay, after which they refunded my money. So it worked out OK, but I had to do a lot of work to protect my interests.

There were many instances like that. I even wrote to eBay requesting their attention and investigation. If the listing was determined to be a scam, I asked that they take it down to prevent people from being scammed. I explained that doing so would also benefit eBay by reducing the reimbursements they would later need to pay to affected buyers. They couldn’t care less. It seems that the fees they collect from sellers are more than enough to offset any losses from these issues. They simply don’t care.

IT IS A SCAM 1000000%

Anyone who lists on eBay such valuable items, has NO feedback, and is mostly located in China, HK, or possibly any other country far away from the US is a scammer. Usually, those sellers are members of eBay for a couple of days. Just investigate before placing a bid and losing money FOREVER. If it is too good to be true, it always is...

People, don't fall for this. We are only fueling their pockets and creating more scamming jobs for them. And China, India (others too) have millions of poor people, who will be recruited to do scamming. I am not a racist, but unfortunately, most scams come from this region of the world (check the data).
