If you're a hedonistic scientist who enjoys bagels, you might find pleasure in both the pursuit of knowledge and life's simple indulgences. Your days could be filled with conducting experiments, exploring the wonders of the universe, and savoring the perfect bagel—perhaps even experimenting with unique bagel recipes or using scientific methods to find the ultimate cream cheese ratio. Balancing intellectual curiosity with sensory delights could make for an enriching and flavorful life. |
@thecarpathian & @gkelly you may (or not?) know that the renowned scientist Seamus Blackley (aka the father of the Xbox), who is a “bread-nerd” and somewhat famed for his resurrecting yeast from a 4,000 year old Egyptian loaf of bread, wrote an amazing Twitter thread on his experiments in recreating as closely as he could the genuine bagels that late 19th Century Polish Ashkenazi Jew made as immigrants to New York. Hmmm....Yes, hedonism is definitely but one of the drivers of this obscured drive towards the personal frisson of device and pleasure of mind and body. The rituals, the conditioned environs, the search of peak experiences that drives it on....to the edge of a personal masochism, the costs, the unrelenting search and strive for that Next Big Thing that will improve or else....the id that demands, the edge of the insecure falling behind the curl of The Wave of Better you bet.... "If there exists self-made hells ( or nirvanas ), we all must live in them." ...and how's the weather your way? ;) Cheers, gentlefolk. *clink* |
