At around $1000 on used market you can pick up a Benchmark DAC 3 B. I never tried your particular DAC but demoed Mytek Brooklyn II in my system and I like the Benchmark better. Another option would be a PS Audio DSD MkI. Different sound signature than the benchmark. Not as quiet when it comes to noise floor but is a bit more laid back.
A new dac?
Guys, help me out here.
My dac which I've been using for a number of years now is a Mytek Stereo192 DSD.
Came out in 2013, I think and was $1600 retail.
Still think it sounds good, but I've nothing to compare it to.
My question: If you are familiar with this dac or similar, what would I have to spend minimum to better it, and what do you think will better it?
I enthusiastically await the responses of the cognoscenti. (Wanted to use that word in a sentence since I read it in Calvin and Hobbes!)

@tcutter , I do! It's cog-nah-shenty. (looked it up) |
Worth exploring whether you prefer Delta Sigma chips or R 2-R ladders sonically. I like the analog sound of the R 2-R. With Denafrips having cut out their middle man, all of their DACs are great values now. https://www.denafrips.com/product-page/denafrips-ares-15th-r-2r-dac |
