A new dac?

Guys, help me out here.

My dac which I've been using for a number of years now is a Mytek Stereo192 DSD.

Came out in 2013, I think and was $1600 retail.

Still think it sounds good, but I've nothing to compare it to.

My question: If you are familiar with this dac or similar, what would I have to spend minimum to better it, and what do you think will better it?

I enthusiastically await the responses of the cognoscenti. (Wanted to use that word in a sentence since I read it in Calvin and Hobbes!)

Are you streaming or just spinning CDs. I think Bricasti M3 will outperform your DAC and you will easily hear the improvement. If you want to stream get the M3 with built in network card. Used without network card should be around $2500-$3000 depending on condition. With network $3200 ish

- Get a soundstage shape controller such as the SCK4 (around a 1000 dollars) from Angela Yeung.

- Get the DanielHertz Master Class Software (around 600 bucks) for making all your files sound like mastertape.

- Get some subwoofers

- Treat your room and so on....

Such things shall be more useful and drastic than doing dac side-grades or willienellie whatever in a setup that's not very resolving as yours.

Should mention dac is hooked up to Belles Aria integrated, an Audiolab 6000cdt,

and speakers are LSA20 Signatures.

Thanks, guys.

@deep_333 ,

This is my system until my new forever home is built. I’m going to have a dedicated music room, then upgrade everything.

I’m terribly sorry it doesn’t meet your standards.

@ozzy62 , the Ares2 is looking like a contender.

@audphile1 , thanks but more than I’m willing to spend. Like to keep it under $1000. Sorry, should have mentioned that.

@oddiofyl , yes, always a good idea.

Also, a decent streamer that is comparable to my current gear?

Thanks again, guys!

@deep_333 room acoustics and subs (in some use cases) I agree with. But the rest of your suggestions are tweaks that can’t compete with a component upgrade. Angela Yeung is Gilbert Yeung of the Blue Circle fame.
