Better system. Better streaming. Any changes?

High-quality playback and high-quality streaming has opened up a big, wide world to me.  Electric blues* and classic rock has been my go-to.   Now, I’m feasting on Big Band and Orchestral music.   I can hear everything.   And I’m loving it.

Any changes for you?

Streaming has opened up a world of records made in concert that I never would have been able to fully experience if I had to buy all of these concerts physically

Same here. While I still find the sound of well pressed vinyl to be marginally "better" than streaming, the gap is narrow and the convenience and variety of streaming is amazing. I've discovered great artists that are now among my favorites that I would never have heard without streaming. It really is incredible to have millions of tunes immediately available in a high quality format .

Agreeing with everything here.  Streaming is amazing, and today's digital sound can (easily?) be optimized to match the best.

But I'll chime in on the social advantages.  Today, when a friend visits, they often have a list of songs they want to hear on my system.  They take away songs I play, and I grab songs they bring.

Roon and other software is wonderful for this, and we pass the iPad back and forth or around, picking 'play next' and surprising each other.

Remembering the day when selecting an album side was quite a discussion...

I do still queue up whole albums, as many concept albums scream for this.

Love play lists; main, moody, rain, trains, music for my wake (why not its gonna be my party and I hate bad music!), jazz, trombone, demo (stuff that sounds amazing AND I like), Qobuz (duplicate my stuff to a Qobuz list while making on Roon, that way it is on Qobuz connect in my car or at my vaca home where I do not have Roon) and my newest one, 'Tupelo'...yes quite a few songs here!
