Thiel Owners

Guys-

I just scored a sweet pair of CS 2.4SE loudspeakers. Anyone else currently or previously owned this model?
Owners of the CS 2.4 or CS 2.7 are free to chime in as well. Thiel are excellent w/ both tubed or solid-state gear!

Keep me posted & Happy Listening!

hi Tom,  I was one of the fortunate men who got to experience Roger's system and room two weeks ago.  It amazes me that after almost 50 years of enjoying this great passion,  how many times the room is often an afterthought by many who search for great sound.   I have  done what i can to make my room as good sounding as possible (including putting his PZ boards under my 3.7's and screwing them into the floor joists), but the room that the two of you designed really opened my ears and eyes.

I have been looking  the past few years to get some new speakers to replace my 3.7's but nothing (including Magico and Wilson) really motivated me to make a change. Now with the planned updates to the speakers in both crossover updates and new plinths make from PZ,  I have a feeling that my 3.7's in beautiful maple will not be leaving my room.  It has been a long and wonderful journey that I started with Thiel in 1985 with a pair of 2.0's, and have been a Thiel guy since with 2.2's, 2.4's,  2.7's, and now 3.7's.   I think at this point the only speaker i would covet would be the 7.2's like Roger played.

Keep expanding that "value equation".  I think there are a ton of fans out here that will support what you and Roger are doing.

Ron - thanks for your encouragement. Our upgrades cover more ground than XO and bases. Of great interest is an entirely new set of technologies that orchestrate energy propagation from source siignal to laminar flow propagation in air. Collectively we call them Propagation Technologies and WaveLaunch Technologies. At this point, our tech is quite well developed and the limiting factor is orchestrating a business to realize the improvements. You and thousands of other folks have been waiting a very long time. Life is life, and we can only do what we can do, but be assured that we are doing it every day.

As we kick off November, Thank You for the Fall update. Rest assured that Thiel fans and owners are standing by for those Upgrade packages.

Happy Listening!

Great to see you here as always.  Being a Thiel fan and owner since 1985 carries expertise and weight here. I cannot think of a better Testament for Jim, now Tom's important work.

Happy Listening!

unsound,

I will try to get some images uploaded.

The room is a testing environment so I refrain from saying what's in there as it will be different by lunch.

My choice for using the 7.2 is thou it does not have the new driver technologies of the 3.7 they do go lower. The CS5i thou they have plenty on the bottom end they have a very complex xover so to simplify things the 7.2 fall in the sweet spot.

Not better just more convenient.

Hearing the SCS4 here with the various upgrades Toms proposes was an ear opener for sure. Trying to comprehend the 7.2 with these improvements is hard to wrap my head around.

There is a sizable list of upgrades to select from hence the time to sort it all out as its one thing to make a one off to test. It's a completely different thing to have a production run with all the necessary equipment, material, and man power that is competent for such an undertaking.

Take for instance the capacitors. They are tested and configured to what sonically is superior. Then you need to source them to have the wound to your specs and wait who knows how long as you're at the back of the line with such a limited bets testing run. However, this is necessary too take Thiel speakers to a higher sonic level with a greater listener enjoyment.

I'm focusing on crossover as that presents some challenges. Upgrading caps with limited real estate space will quickly become a concern.
