An Audiophile Nightmare

I woke up this morning and knew I had to share with my fellow AGoners a bit of humor only we would truly understand. Last night asleep, I was suddenly awakened by what was perhaps the single worst nightmare I've ever experienced--one of my speakers had been moved without my permission. That's right, the left speaker was off by at least 2 inches after having spent God knows how many days of precise measuring, re-measuring, and listening. Waking up this morning, I still sensed an unusual disturbance in the force until I walked into my den and suddenly realized that, yes, it was all just a horrible nightmare and that my precious center image was still intact. The relief was incredible, and my morning coffee and Wordle were like heaven!

’And then we have those days when it’s like, "Nobody touch me"

I Touch No One and No One Touches Me-

I Am A Rock. I Am An Island...with a really fussy stereo.

I'm fortunate. No cleaning lady and my wife wants nothing at all to do with my system. "Too many knobs and buttons," she says. So, it all works out.

@mike4597 that is a really nice story.  It’s good your wife enjoys music too.  I love my wife, I just don’t love her idea of what constitutes an adequate sound system.

You might want to consider outlining the exact location and position of your speakers by placing masking tape around the footprint. I have done that and I can't begin to tell you how my wife just adores the look. It's just one more of those somewhat odd things this hobby seems to insist upon
