Second Round of Questions on Speaker Cables

Following up on a post of a couple months ago. Running Audience AU24SE cables but looking for something with more "body" if such a thing exists. But I do love the open, airy and even frequency balance of the Audience. A buddy runs Cardas cables and loves them but Audience not so much. So I was asking what else besides my Audience. Two answers were in the majority:

Stick with what you like, Audience, but go up in the range. Or, try Cardas.

So went for with AU24SX and really like them. Better than the SEs, maybe a bit more body.

Then tried the Cardas Clear Reflections. What I find is an emphasis with the mids and upper bass. Great for music with an emphasis on vocals maybe, but for my wide-ranging likes of rock, jazz, and occasional vocal-centric music, just not right with that lower-end emphasis.

FWIW, Bryston amp, Spatial Audio and Rogue pres, Sopras.

So still looking but not sure where to go next. I realize I'm being a little vague, but there's so many other options out there and it's impossible to try them all. Open to suggestions.

Thanks.

Thanks @audphile1 . Good to hear I'm not alone. For all the good things I heard about the Clear Reflections I was not only disappointed but surprised. Of course entirely system dependent as well and obviously Cardas is a major player with a big customer base.

I could actually live with the SX cables no problem but always have the itch to see what else is out there.

Good advice on getting the right balance.

@jaybe I have followed a similar path starting with some Audience AU24 cables that I really liked and eventually "upgrading" an entire AU24SE loom (including Audience power conditioning).  The SE version lost a little life in the midrange and  as the rest of my system improved I found them lacking.  Eventually I acquired Cardas Clear Reflection speaker cables to audition in my system which at that time was a VAC preamp and Ayre Power Amp. The balance then swung to a lower midrange bloom past the point I felt I desired in my system.  Ultimately I borrowed a friends Synergistic Research cables those worked very well for me.  I eventually moved to a full SR level 3 loom that anchors my current Gryphon and Rockport system.

I had SX speaker cables before I moved up to FrontRow. The SX are awesome speaker cables but they tend to emphasize the mids slightly more than the FrontRow. The FR are more refined and better balanced.

@audphile1 I looked into FrontRow. I read a few times of their forward nature in some systems. In my setup this would likely not be a good thing.

At the NY audio show last Saturday the Audience guys confirmed this and said for my system the SX was the best cable.

Of course, everything is system and taste-dependent.
