Is ASR for real, or is it only for those sub $1k or even sub $2K?

@mahgister OK, I'm still a bit baffled! But, at least with respect to Kunchur's papers, I engaged with you previously on this even before Amir took the topic up. His papers on cables at least are flawed in several ways. Later Amir took up the topic:

In terms of your attributing various motivations to Amir, including "negating they [human hearing abilities] exist" I just don't see it. He routinely describes the limits of human hearing and how psycho-acoustics plays a role. Indeed, HRTFs, Toole, masking, etc. are all engaged as part of the discussion of (especially) headphone measurements and listening experiences.

@kerrybh It's actually a side-project of mine. I'm developing a debunking resource for audiophile myths and collecting together all the relevant arguments and counter-arguments. I see it as an interesting intellectual adventure in philosophy of science, like going to flat Earth conferences and seeing what works and doesn't work against the faithful!

You are interested first and last  by debunking audiophiles in your own words politely called audiophiles myths which appear to me  as preposterous as someone interested to debunk spirits existence before inquiring about their existence to begin with...Then spirits are  described as mythic creature...

By the way  i dont attribute to Amir anything he claim himself : that specs inspector know more and better than human hearing faillibility and biases...It is not even wrong to say this, it is worst: it is an half truth...

Acoustics is a real scientific research about humaqn hearing..

You said Kunchur was wrong about cables measures and protocols. Ok but had you read his others articles? 

Have you read Kunchur criticism of Amir and why he is right ? my 8 articles are about this by the way and only about this, from many different aspects of acoustics... I even recommended a book on acoustics which is completely and only about this...A not well know book... Revolutionary are not always  recognized on the spot ...

Kunchur abnd all the scientists i recommended   are vastly more deep than Amir ...

 In science there is no method infallible  to debunk as Popper for example  proposed to reach truth...When we enter into in inquiry we do so with our own biases  and our own whole being mind/heart/soul/body/spirit/ego/persona to begin with, nothing less...

@mahgister Still baffled, man! I'm interested in debunking audiophile myths that are derived from flawed theories, commercial snake-oil, limited testing and evaluation, and simple gullibility. I don't see a logical parallel with "debunk spirits existence before inquiring about their existence to begin with..." For audiophile myths, these can be debunked by showing them to be false. An inquiry into their existence would be to simply read the claims of those who promote such myths.

Finally, I read several of your papers back in the day, including Kunchur on cables! I'm not arguing at all about the content of most of them, just that I don't see what you are so vexed about and how this applies to well, just about anything!

@markwd  that sounds interesting. it will be interesting to read what you come up with. Like most of the folks here, I’m a nut for this hobby and so I do find the debate between the objectivist and the subjectivist to be interesting and sometimes even educational.

that last thread that got taken down kind of started out that way, but pretty quickly evolved into hurling insults at Amir and him hurling various graphs Back in self-defense, or repeating points that had been made over and over, which is fine, the participants seemed to enjoy it so good for them

While i think Amir certainly has a valid point of view, ultimately, I don’t agree with him. I think there’s a little more to it than just measurements. I just don’t have an emotional reaction to him. Others do and they are entitled. One of the interesting things about this hobby and this forum is how jacked up people can get about this stuff. Passionate.
