High current amp search

Hello, so as the title says, I'm looking for a 200+ wats amp (8ohm) that will double it's power down to 2 ohms but importantly also check all the audiophile boxes so strong, articulate, fast bass, smooth resolving mid-range and extended non fatiguing highs. It's proving to be rather difficult because hardly any manufacturers list  output into 2ohms. Budget is around 4000$ so I'm looking at mostly used. Besides something like the Krell FPB 300/400 CX which can be had for that much , what else can be recommended?

Dear @lukaszwk  : The integration of a self powered subwoofer through a HP filter is not " plug and play "

All of us are accustom to many/some system noise and distortions levels and we like what we are listenning in each one of us home audio system and when the subs are well integrated ( using the subs software for that room integration, precise phase selector choosed, volume level, position and the like ) certainly that inmmediatly the the recordings ( dgital/analog ) through system play could sounds like a " crap " because we are missin " loosing " those noise/distortions that we were accustom too and that in the NEW SYSTEM already disappears or gone really lower and everything in the NEW system is different to our ears but if we made it all in good fashion and with care and patience the rewards are to many.

We have to take in count that in the NEW system with way lower noise/distortions there is no place to quality " problems " in the different system links to hide its real performance and then we have to " fine tuning " the whole system each system link: preamp/linestage, amp, IC cables, electrical power lines, speaker position, even our seat positon, check the new " vibrations " that develops the good subs and many other things.

As I said not " plug and play " and we need to accustom to the new better quality sound that now our system puts us narer to the recording and nearer to the MUSIC to enjoy that MUSIC as never before and of course that we have to hve some track recordings that we know as each finger of our hands to make the tests for that NEW system quality performance levels and that lower noise/distortion home room system levels.

Regards and enjoy the MUSIC NOT DISTORTIONS,

Dear @lukaszwk  : """ The amount of bass isn't really the problem it's the quality """

My advise is still the same when we are talking of QALITY level performance inyour audio home system:

""""

and your whole system will shines too due that NOW that critical bass range will be handled by a dedicated subs designed with dedicated woofers and amplifiers for that specific range.

With that you can forget of ttttthat high current amp because you just do not needs.

Next an example of the type of subs you need and that not only comes with the high pass filter but has the lower THD around of 0.5% only ! !:

Velodyne Acoustics Digital Drive Plus Subwoofers – Velodyne USA

With your speakers almost no other solution can outperforms my advise if you want to listen a truly high quality level performance from your room/system. ! !

Dear friends, sure that I understand that as the OP you are really in deep behind that high current amp aev en if could be not the best alternative for the OP quality system performance and I think tha<t audio forums main target is for help any one of us to find out the " best " alternatives for what we are looking about.

Look that 2.7 ( 2.5 )ohms in the bass means that that impedance is what sees " suddenly " for a few seconds in a very short bass frequency range the amplifier and any 200 watts output at 8 ohms amp can handeled with out been disturbed and even the system owner can't to be aware of because that short term very short bass frequency range comes along other frequencies and in the other side almost all the amps comes designed with an overload margin ( headroom ) to avoid klipping.

With all respect I think that some of us as the OP are " soffocating/immerse " through a " glass of water ".

Just saw this rare SMcAudio DNA 500 and think you’d be nuts not to consider it.  It’s a great deal for the already excellent stock amp, but this has been heavily modified to Platinum level with significantly upgraded caps, etc. by the designer to an even higher level that makes this an incredible value.  500 Watts into 8 Ohms, 900 into 4, and God only knows what into 2 Ohms but you can call SMcAudio and I’m sure they can tell you.  If that’s not enough power I don’t know what to say, but this is a SOTA amp for $2900 and won’t last long so act fast if you’re interested.  This is an end game level amp.

Dear @soix  :  " but this is a SOTA amp for $2900 and won’t last long so act fast if you’re interested.  This is an end game level amp.. """

Really?. You are an experienced audiophile and I think a MUSIC lover too and by any astandard at any price that is not " and end game level amp ".

@gavman  owns a Boulder 2060 and IMH even against the Boulder ( is a really challenge to the 2060 at quality level performance ) this Levinson monobloks are truly end amps and a bargain at this price:

Mark Levinson 20.6 Class A Monoblock Power Amplifiers

Yes superior quality to what you own. So, you can get and can confirm for sure and if you do don't like it you can sale easy. The only change we have to make on those 20.6s are the electrolitic filter caps ( Vishay are the best ones down there . ) in the power suply,2 on each monoblock.
