Is buying a “used” subwoofer a bad idea?

I seen posts about avoiding second hand  subwoofers because they may have been worn out from heavy use. What do you think?

Plenty of audiophiles who drink and bslap their livers constantly (not to mention all the other pitfalls of the bottle) are quick to turn up their noses at the hint of some nicotine products.

Personally, i like to smoke a cigar or two with my artisan coffees and look down upon the slurring liver destroyers. The latter is not my thing.

Talk about stereotyping... audiophiles don't smoke and are not grumpy?

Nonsense. Secondhand subwoofers are fine. Just have the owner demo them beforehand.

Used sub more likely to be a dud than other used audio components.

I've gotten duds 3 different times.

Also got good used subs.

You always take a chance when you try to save a few bucks.
