Monitor/sub

I know this question is often asked so i apologize.

I have a medium sized living room, I am a professional musician and looking to replace my speakers ( Role Audio windjammers, powered by a Rega Brio) with a monitor speaker and a sub.

After 10 years I want to hear a different presentation, that simple.

I could stretch to 3k, happy to go used, curious about the Harbeth thing etc.

Thanks very much!

I think you are going to have to look at the entry level pro monitor/sub market.   The problem with home speakers is the drivers are not built to deal with the heat generated being played loud for an extended length of time.  Many consumers speakers spend manufacturing cost on cosmetics not drivers.  Drivers are what makes a pro monitor different- like ATC (ATC dominates the commercial recording studio market).  Within the ATC brand, the SCM12 is the pro version of the least expensive passive.  That would be a good place to start.   I would skip the sub as good versions of PRO subs cost more than 3K.

This is like following an unleashed superball hitting all of the surfaces.  Are you wanting more accuracy/dynamics because you are a musician?  OR, are you wanting double duty from the system for listening and sound reinforcement?

After 10 years I want to hear a different presentation, that simple.

It’s not really that simple.  What aspects specifically are you looking to improve upon and what sound characteristics are most important to you?  We can’t magically know what kind of “different” you’re looking for unless you tell us.
