Can anyone with good headphones take a listen?

Hello. could anyone with a good pair of headphones give the following sound files a listen? They were recorded in-home from my basement music room with no outer walls. I was the only one home. I did not hear these sounds during the recording (I wasn’t monitoring it live), but noticed them after. No sound was coming from my computer or anything else inside (save for mouse clicks, typing, maybe the fan, and room reverb as I worked). The sounds in question aren’t always the loudest thing in the ’mix’, and they aren’t above a conversational volume. Hopefully you’ll be able to hear the different layers of sounds. I can’t figure out how the human-sounding ones got on to the recordings (other than me in the very start of the first one). I’ve tried and can’t find a way to talk outside my home and be recorded from inside my basement, windows closed. I don’t know much about high-end speakers, but through cheap ones, they’ll be harder to hear. They’re much more evident with noise-cancelling headphones. No worries if you can’t make out these parts of the audio, if you’ve tried a few times with decent volume and headphones. That’s how they were ’discovered’, and is the fairest shot you’ll have of hearing them. I’m interested to hear from those who can hear the other people on these tracks.

An unwanted response - privacy violation?  Listen on audio.com - can anyone who can hear a woman responding from far away much quieter than the homeowner’s conversational words inside their home? How can this be accomplished in both how they hear inside and how their response gets to the mic inside? Windows, doors closed. Aren’t they eavesdropping no matter how? This is not faked at all. I’ve repeated this 10 second clip twice.

The first one, for example, I hear starting before the click and ending after it. Some of other words are oddly behind clicks as well. Not toggled by the clicks, but happening at the same time, like they were hiding.

Any help or advice would be appreciated from those that can hear and understand what is in this audio and what it means. Sorry for all the words.

Thanks again.

Sounds like you are picking up outside interference.  Any chance you have a TV/Radio station close by?  Or 911/first responder dispatch broadcast antenna?

I had a similar problem with the local 911 dispatch that I could pickup the dispatch calls on the unshielded interconnects between the turntable and phono preamp.

OK, I was just making a small joke, but I think Jeff is on to something. It is most likely a stray signal making its way very slightly into the cables.

Thanks for listening, and for the replies and tips. I’ve only a fire station and train yard close by (swanky part of town).

If I may, could you listen to this and tell me if you can hear what sounds like a response from a woman’s voice saying "I can hear you"? I think this better illustrates how this may not just be crossed wires or interference from a stray signal..  This one’s a youtube link - you can see the waveform if that may help. The response is faint, but it’s there.

Thanks again for your help.

It doesn't have to be close to you. I was once hearing a radio station when I switched the preamp to phono and turned up the volume with no record playing. The radio station was nowhere near my home.
