@signaforce I would recommend to be very careful in that system with adding interconnects that are known for focus and clarity.
I would also advise you to wait with cables and get a good DAC that allow for XLR connections. Then get XLRs throughout.
But if you want interconnects now, in that system I would avoid silver. Best to try different cables or buy used. Kimber KS pure copper should be good. I tried copper silver hybrid KS1126 that were excellent but a bit too much for my system. I think the copper version would be great.
Interconnect recommendations
According to chatGPT, my 2 weakest links in my system, are my DAC & my interconnects. For a number of reasons, I am focusing on the interconnects first, starting with RCA from DAC to pre & balanced from pre to amp. My current interconnects are WBC Mogami 2549. Speaker cables are Transparent Plus. My USB is Cardas clear. I recently added the Stack Audio LAN silencer. I have a Furman P 2400 AR power conditioner & voltage regulator & Maze Audio Litz with billet plugs power cords.
Budget is open, new or used. Focus is on clarity, transparency and micro details. I want to match or slightly exceed the quality of my existing system.
My digital side of my system: Aurender N150 > Chord Qutest > PS Audio BHK pre > Moon 330A > KEF Reference 3’s.
If it helps, I am thinking used Dave or one the R2R (Holo KTE etc) as my DAC upgrade. Thanks!

I like XLR and I believe OFC copper interconnects are all very similar. I believe the upgrade comes with OCC copper. I am not convinced about OFC copper with silver plating, but, I do have an expensive OCC copper with 5N silver for my turntable that sounds great... In general, if you want to upgrade from Mogami, which is OFC copper, I think OCC copper is the way to go for interconnects. |
Well I have no idea how on earth an AI can form an opinion, but I think your interconnects are actually pretty good. If you were into DIY and wanted to make absolutely premium, you could use pure silver IC's with shield from https://partsconnexion.com/connex-cable-bl-ag-interconnect-cable-2-x-23awg/

Hi , here’s my 02 cents. I have avoided any silver in MY system as it added unwanted brightness. I have the same USB as you and I upgraded to the Wireworld Starlight Platinum 8 for a noticeable improvement. For RCA interconnects I really had to avoid anything that added brightness. I’m running Morrow level 5 and I’m happy with them. The only caveat is that they take 400 hours to break in. Mike Morrow comped me for 240 hours of burn in prior to shipping but they still required the additional time while using. I can’t recommend a DAC as I have limited experience but I have a Schiit Yiggy. I would like to get a tube DAC in the future. Also I find @audphile1 to give very good advice and always give weight to his suggestions. FWIT I have single ended Rogue gear and am just now setting up higher level Rogue gear that consists of a balanced pre and balanced mono blocs. In talking the manufacturer I was advised to start with my favorite RCA’s before I go out and spend a bunch of money on balanced. But considering my DAC offers balanced too , I’m chomping at the bit to try something new. For a starting point I’m considering Pine Tree balanced Interconnects and their ribbon speaker wires as a starting point based on TJ’s recommendation. Cheers , Mike B. |
