Not today, but from last night.
Usually my listening sessions are a combination of CD and vinyl, but last night, strictly CD.
Matthew Halsell - When the World Was Young (2014) / Anyone into "spiritual" jazz (Alice Coltrane, Pharaoh Sanders, Don Cherry, late period John Coltrane, etc) should check out this trumpet player. Contemplative, emotional, uplifting stuff.
Deus ex Machina - Equilibrismo da Insofferenza (1998) / Italian. Could be the best prog release from the 90’s. Killer, fiery prog, with some fusion influences (Mahavishnu Ochestra, Brand X, etc). The entire band has serious chops.
Univers Zero - Uzed (1984) / One of the best examples of avant-prog. Dark, brooding, complex, prog. Not particularly an "easy" listen, but artistically rewarding for the effort.
Pasquale Corrado - Works for Ensemble (2011/2013,2015,2018) / Very avant-garde classical music from this Italian composer. Fantastic stuff, but not for the faint of heart; pretty thorny sounding stuff.
